Eric and Courtney’s First HR Technology Conference

If you haven’t ever attended the HR Technology Expo and Conference (and the insane amount of sessions, parties and networking that surrounds it) you’re not alone. Red Branch Media, the HR and Recruiting Marketing Agency, is bringing three new members of its contingent to the conference this year. 

In the following paragraphs, Content Creator Courtney McGann and Digital Media Manager Eric Foutch talk about what they can’t wait to see, how they’re planning on dividing their time and what exactly they expect from one of the industry’s most talked about shows. — Maren Hogan

We’re headed to Las Vegas! Courtney McGann and myself (you might know me from this blog ahem) will be experiencing HR Tech for the very.first.time. We’ve read (and been lectured by Maren) about the sessions, parties and networking and we’re ready for it to get here already!

To say we’re excited to attend would be an understatement. We have timed our business card draws (we could beat Billy the Kid with these lightning fast networking skills) and we are ready for you. But seriously, Courtney and I are most looking forward to meeting all of YOU face-to-face. The ladies and gents who have worked with us, inspired us, written the blogs we can’t get enough of and those we’ve chatted with online.

Finally getting to shake hands with Red Branch clients will undoubtedly be the highlight for everyone on the team. We’re also bringing Jeremy Hogan, our lead web developer and the genius behind sites like Visibility Software, Talemetry and Dovetail (to name JUST a few…)

Working with Maren Hogan, the CEO of Red Branch Media has made it clear that relationships are a central part of this business. We’re ready to follow her lead and meet our counterparts in the world’s leading HCM vendor community.

I am personally most excited to support all of my clients on-site while networking with other conference attendees. I hope to meet with some social media managers and pick their brains about recent SEO changes, new Facebook advertising concepts and engaging the new Google+ devotees.

While this is my first HR Tech conference, I was also present at SXSWTalentNetInteractive, and The Frontier Project.

Courtney has a background in conference planning, but this will be her first HR conference, so make sure you say hi! Courtney is most looking forward to client and potential client meetings that we have scheduled for the team. They combine her two favorite things, marketing strategies and food. (Those are her words, not mine.)

And since this conference is actually about HR technologies, we both had to decide what HR tech tools we are going to dive into…

Me (Eric): Since they were chosen as the awesome new technology by The HR Technology Conference themselves, I am excited to demo Hunite. Their software looks very unique and I haven’t seen anything like it yet. I think that the use of their technology will enable companies to function more cohesively and diminish silos in different departments.  @erockfoutch

CourtneyThe kid in me is interested in checking out what’s new in workplace training gamification. Through college I would always make some sort of game out of learning, whether I made up rewards for flash cards, or created funny (dirty) acronyms. I love the idea of technology becoming a part of that, I want to hear more about what Achievers is doing. @courtneyisneato

We realized very quickly that our eyes might have gotten a tad bit bigger than our livers, but we really want to squeeze in as much of everything as we can during our time in Vegas.
