No Kid Hungry. Period

NoKidHungry_campaign_10june2I recently went to the store to buy groceries for my ever growing boys (there are three). The receipt, when finished, stretched from my mid torso to the floor. I almost tweeted the site and then embarrassed by my good fortune, decided not to. See, while some kids have all the nutritious food they could ask for, there are many young folks that don’t (even here in my own neighborhood).

Summer is a particularly rough time for children whose parents are struggling to meet their food needs at home. In the three weeks since our boys have come home (read: not getting hot lunch at school) our grocery bill has tripled!! Most family budgets don’t have that kind of wiggle room.

So, a bunch of crazy HR people are getting together to play kickball and raise donations for a cause that is beyond worthy. Here are some stats before you donate.

By making a tax-deductible gift to our No Kid Hungry campaign you can:

  • Connect vulnerable kids with up to 10 meals for every $1 donated
  • Build public awareness about childhood hunger & find solutions
  • Educate children & families about nutritious, affordable eating

Also Dovetail, a great HR Technology company who I am PROUD to call a client, will be donating $1 every time someone tweets with the hashtag #SHRMKickball and@Dovetail and a link to our game webpage is mentionedClick here for the official game page.

So $1= 10 meals for kiddos

Why are you still HERE!?

PS- While I had originally planned to play on TEAM BLUE, I will not be able to get to Chicago in time. So give your green to team BLUE!!

PPS Kickball is my absolute favorite and I am super bummed.

PPPS- Actually kids are my favorite and I really hope you do something to help them because you read this or these posts here and here.
