Omaha’s Best Eats and Drinks – According to the RBM Team

All week, Red Branch Media has been bragging about Omaha and, honestly, how can you blame us? One of the top cities to raise a family, a top city to work in the tech industry, a top 10 for first time homebuyers… Our credentials are pretty solid. Of course, while you’re here in Omaha for SocialHRCamp, those accolades won’t help a rumbling belly. Rest easy, because Livability gave us a spot on their list of top 10 best foodie cities, too. I may not be a Nebraska native, but I can tell you that after living in this beautiful town for almost five years, Omaha knows how to make something delicious. Here’s the places we find worth writing home about (in no particular order, this list was hard enough as it is).

Top 6 Omaha Eats

  • Pitch in Dundee is a favorite around here. Votes weren’t taken, but the amount of times the Margherita pizza and sangria pitchers have been mentioned by Shaley alone, might take care of the need for them anyway. Both are on the Happy Hour menu, too!
  • Twisted Cork is closer to the heart of Omaha, but the brisket hash on the lunch menu has been described by Eric as “the most amazing thing ever”, so it’s got that going for it.
  • Lisa’s Radial Cafe is the place to go if you’re a tad homesick and looking for a breakfast like Mama made. The Titanic, described as a ‘raft’ with a chicken fried steak topping is Kerry’s go to.
  • The French Bulldog in Dundee is a charcutier’s dream. For real, Sarah’s boyfriend practices the art and couldn’t help but stop in for a bite while visiting from Oregon. Sarah swears by the atmosphere and Ploughman sandwich.
  • M’s Pub is one of the oldest restaurants in the Old Market District (downtown Omaha). The European cafe feel is perfect for a delicious wine selection – Maren loves – and amazing menu.
  • Gorat’s Steak House has been an Omaha tradition for over 69 years and happens to be one of Warren Buffett’s favorites.

Runners’ Up: Modern Love, Dundee Dell, Amsterdam Falafel, Baxter’s Pizza

Top 5 Places for a Caffeine Fix

Dundee Double Shot is only a few minutes from Red Branch HQ and it is worth every second. The family owned coffee shop has everything from lattes to smoothies to pastries. Service is A+, too!
  • Aroma’s is another quick jaunt from the HQ and it is a beautiful place to relax. Brick walls, delicious pastries, artsy drinks and, well, amazing smells.
  • Caffeine Dreams is the place to visit if you’re looking for vegan and fair trade goods. Smoothies, pastries, sandwiches, salad, tea and coffee. A few RBM meetings have been held in among the spacious seating, bricks and board games.
  • Scooter’s Coffee may be a franchise now, but it’s first doors were opened right here in the Omaha area. This is a taste of Omaha that can be found in multiple locations throughout the metro (and midwest), so convenience is at an all time high.
  • Legend’s Comics and Coffee is the answer to the coffee-comic-Catan lover in all of us. If you are a little on the self-professed nerdy side, this is the best coffee shop in the whole entire world. Okay, that might be an exaggeration, but seriously how cool is this?
