6 Things to Know Before Starting Your Workweek (Apr. 27)

It’s really frustrating when life goes on…especially when you’re left behind. This week, I threw out my back for the first time and it…sucked. However, somehow exciting things kept happening during this workweek. It’s a mystery…

FYI

We managed to get Jason Lauritsen, Josh Berry, Sarah Schulz, and MANY more awesome folks to support SocialHRCamp on May 15. We are working on trying to get some credits happening for these sessions, so stay tuned. But frankly, even it you don’t get credit, why would you miss Dwane Lay, Crystal Miller, Rayanne Thorn, Rob Garcia and Bryan Wempen? SocialHRCamp is shaping up to be incredible! Get your tickets now!

OH

Did you hear that Zenefits is going out for a new round of funding? They are, apparently the first round ($15 million) wasn’t quite enough to put em up in Trump Towers. The reason for the new GIANT round is for “increased adoption”. Sounds like a bubble to me. (TechCrunch)

NEW HIRES!

Our friends and clients over at GreenJobInterview are shaking up their leadership with a new, independent board of directors, with former President Greg Rokos at its head. Ryan Mulholland, of Fetch will take Greg’s place as President and oversee day-to-day operations. Theo Rokos will remain CEO and Greg will be the Chief Strategy Officer. HR Technology mainstays Jim Philip (of Vurv and Taleo fame) and Curtis Marks (Verifications, Inc.) will also be on the newly formed Board. (PRWeb)

I’m not sure if you’ve heard of Twilio but a guy named Will Staney started working there shortly after he moved to California for his position at GlassDoor. Since then, he’s been a huge advocate and single handedly exposing many of us used to the vendor scene to the kind of employer branding that epitomizes start up life. Now, he’s joined by Bryan Chaney, who is ALSO posting drool worthy pictures of massages, big fat sammiches and rooftop gatherings as part of normal work life. I can’t be the only one who’s jealous? SMOKE ‘EM IF YOU GOT ‘EM

Chris Wessell has joined Aegis, the only staffing firm that caters to…potheads? No, that’s a misclassification, but he did start Aegis. Here is the actual description: As a Human Capital Optimization firm, Aegis helps shield its marijuana industry clients from issues presented by ever-changing labor laws and regulations.
