6 Things You Need to Know Before Starting the Workweek (May 4)

Hey there, this workweek is going to be off the chain! I really love writing this column so someone out there…please read it?

OH

I am a fairly (highly) experienced, classically trained interviewer… and the thing with Skype is… I can see you when you roll your eyes. Just saying… (Jennifer Pashkin Scott)

BIG SECRET

Who knows what Matt Charney might reveal this week? There’s big news in the air and so far, no one is spilling the beans 🙁 Could it be salesforce news? An impending takeover? Another (yawn) merger? (Facebook)

SPEAKING OF SMARTRECRUITERS

All of the sudden, there is merger talk swirling in the air like it’s last year. Where did everyone get all this damn money? So if Salesforce eats SmartRecruiters and someone else eats Salesforce, then…will it still be free or is it a play for all those email addresses? Sometimes I feel like we’re all playing Hungry Hippos and the prize is…email addresses. George has many more smarter things to say about this. (#HRWins)

I’m not sure if this Google search picture is real but it seems pretty mean if so. I’ve been around a LOOOOTTTTT of recruiters and I think I would know if they were any of these things? Sour grapes? Fair critique? (Google, derp)

IN PRINT

Not only is Mary Ellen Slayter growing a human in her body, she’s also being published in Forbes. Apparently I made the first draft of her article, Why I’m Not Scared Of My Competition — And You Shouldn’t Be, Either which is….flattering? Kidding. I love ME. (Forbes)

THE WORLD’S A STAGE

This week, we got way into Jessica Miller Merrell’s Workology podcast series, then found out she was going on the Economist and finally realized she’s offering practitioners blogging space on Blogging4Jobs. Ever wanted to blog but didn’t think you could maintain your own? Here’s your shot. (Blogging4Jobs)
