6 Things You Need to Know Before Starting Your Workweek (Oct. 12)

Are you ready for the workweek? Not until you read these 6 things!

WHO WANTS A MARGARITA?

Me. I do. I want a margarita. So I decided to do something about it. This time when I am in Vegas for HR Tech instead of running from booth to booth madly on the last day, trying helplessly to stuff my Monster bag with stolen goodies, I’m going to be lounging at Border Grill, hanging with my homies. From 1:30-3:30 I will be sitting there with whoever decides to show up. So…show up? (@marenhogan)

THERE ARE SMART PEOPLE PAYING ATTENTION

To HR Tech. I don’t know this guy but he seems like a pretty smart cookie. If you want to learn about the HR Landscape, this blog post is as good a place as any to start. (Work Bench)

CRUISING LINKEDIN

I just realized that Hubspot is a pretty rad company. I also realized when I heard Jessica Meher speak that she seemed super familiar. Then I went through all my old emails and realized that the current Head of Web Marketing at Hubspot, is formerly of Akken, and also the genius who designed the original RecruitingBlogs.com logo. Yeah! Crazy, right? (LinkedIN)

WORK FOR FREEEEEEEE

Abercrombie and Fitch made headlines this past week with their epically stupid decision to ask salaried workers to work weekends fo free! I mean, I guess if you can get people to do something because you hold their job in the palm of your hand, then you totes should. C’mon that’s leadership 101, amirite? Just ask Amazon. (MarketWatch)

THIS GIRL SEEMS SMART

Look it’s not like everyone in the world has a podcast. What’s that you say? Everyone in the world DOES have a podcast? I mean, how is that even possible? Fine, well this girl has a podcast and she says some really rad things and you should listen because it is me. (SoundCloud)

MONEY, MONEY, MONEY

Remember last year when we were all impressed with the funding/exits/casholapalooza of around 2.3B in HR Tech? Well Q3 of 2014 ALONE took in a billion. ONE BILLION DOLLARS! You guys that is nuts. Also, nuts? None of that money is for me. (CB Insights)
