6 Things You Need to Know Before Starting Your Workweek (Oct. 26)

Here all the things that happened last week and you should definitely know about them to get your workweek started!

HRTech Lowdown

There were a lot of comprehensive posts about the insanely good show that was this year’s #HRTechConf. However, this one from Bill Boorman, written from a train is likely the most concise:  “Most impressive product at ‪#‎HRTech‬ was Broadbean. Loved Sympcity, interviewed, Xref, Hirabl and Lever. Very underwhelmed by ElevateCareers. Will post more later.”
Well, it’s Elevated Careers…and what underwhelmed you, Bill? (From Facebook)

NEW JOB FOR ZELLER

Celinda Appleby has been killing it since her appointment at Oracle and now there is one more familiar face at the tech giant. Derek Zeller, sourcing and recruiting extraordinaire, is also joining Oracle and we couldn’t be happier for him. (Say Congrats)

STANDING DESKS ARE HELLA DUMB

Which is awesome because our office is full of them. Yay. Actually, what this research really shows is you can’t be sedentary in your whole life and expect a standing desk to save you, which DUH, it’s not like all grocery cashiers are actually the picture of health (except at Whole Foods, obvs). MEAD v. ADLER

Not really, but who doesn’t love a great fight? Ryan Mead of Vitru takes on Lou Adler’s statement that personality assessments have no place in recruiting, and the results are fascinating… (Vitru)

THE UBER OF RECRUITMENT?

Well, there is a catchphrase and while I only heard it three times, Tim Sackett heard it a whopping six! Everyone figures they are the Uber of Recruitment and, well it stands to reason that someone is….who, though? I think it’s the guy I met at lunch but I could be wrong… (The Tim Sackett Project)

DWAAAAAAAAAM

This guy has a whole lot to say about recruiters. He is very, very mad. Particularly at the London ones. US-based ones are A-OK. If you want to know what recruiters are up against (especially third party recruiters) please read this article. It’s so harsh, I needed baby powder after reading. (Mocko)
