6 Things You Should Know Before Starting Your Workweek (Sept. 28)

Oh man, it’s time for #6things again to get your workweek started! Without further ado, here are the latest and greatest things happening in the world of…me?

GROUPONS FOR GROUPONS

So you know a business is having some troubles when it offers coupons for itself. Like Groupons to buy other Groupons…I guess…in the future? Whatever, aside from being really meta, it’s an indication that maybe all is not well in the land of flash sales. Jessica Miller Merrell had some insight around overarching HR concerns (namely that the retail coupon platform had different systems for different locations) which were, in the words of JMM, good for rapid growth, but hard to scale when you get big. (Business Insider)

Who is HR?

Speaking of JMM, Jessica has launched a survey designed to help us get to know HR better, which is awesome because honestly, some of the well-worn tropes about HR have gotten a little bland. Go take the survey if you work in Human Resources so you can help! (Blogging4Jobs)

SPEAKING OF SURVEYS

I know. It’s a lot but this one is a really great one! Crystal Miller of Branded Strategies is trying to grab data on the most elusive of HR Strategies, the employer brand. And couldn’t we ALL afford to understand employer branding a little better? Help a girl (and a Red Branch partner!) out by taking this survey today! (Branded Strategies)

WAY MORE THAN YOU NEED TO MAKE YOU AN EXPERT

If cats have nine lives, then so do humans because apparently the average human works 90,000 hours in their lifetime. If it takes 10,000 hours (totally debunked BTDubs but still my analogy won’t work without it) to become an expert, then humans have nine opportunities to be an expert in their lifetimes! That’s pretty sweet actually. I am going to be an expert makeup artist next. Here’s a contouring video. (ARC)

REMEMBER THAT GIRL THAT ISN’T REAL?

So a few weeks ago, a very attractive person with a full body, seemingly posed picture (looked stock sorta) tried to connect with me on LinkedIn. I posted that picture to Facebook and outed this forgery…except she’s totally a real person and I was super wrong and I guess there are really attractive people who invest in quality photography and what do I know, I’m from Omaha, so whatever. Anyway, she wrote this piece that would be chest grabbingly offensive if it weren’t so spot on the nose correct. I’m currently laughing my A$$ off at all the offended millennials in the office. It’s funny. (LinkedIn)

SHINY NEW TOY!

I’ve long been a fan of HRMarketer’s software, it’s an incredible value and we use it all the time at RBM. This here is a new and exciting piece of HRMarketer. Check it out! (HRMarketer)
