#6Things: CANDE, Holiday Booze, and QR Codes

Are you ready for the workweek? Not until you read these 6 things. We have all the news fit to print!

OPEN SOURCE #HROS CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

I recently volunteered to serve on my neighborhood association. Why? Because I want it to be safer, cleaner, more beautiful. For the same reason, if you care about HR at all, you should be involved in the HR Volunteer Committees led by Lars and Ambrosia over at HROS. It’s a small commitment to making a big change. (HROS)

I WANT CANDE!

The talent board has recently released its findings around Candidate Experience in 2015. Each year, Talent Board conducts its annual CandE Awards and associated research to gauge how employers manage the experience they provide their job candidates, from initial candidate attraction through to notification and onboarding. Over 200 companies joined in the fun this year. A smart group that includes Ed Newman, Gerry Crispin, Kevin Grossman and Elaine Orler… you’ll want to read what the report has to say. QR CODES ARE RELEVANT AGAIN

Were they ever, though? This tattoo shop asked candidates to fill in a QR code to prove what an amazing ink stylist they COULD be. This is smart and super cool employer branding. Applicants must fill out the QR code, snap a pic and send to the recruitment team before being able to access the application. It’s a newly opened shop, so I wonder how many people did? (deMilked)

I LEANED IN SO MUCH I BECAME AN ALCOHOLIC

J/K. Jennifer Candee posted this article from the Washington Post about how a bunch of us wimmins are leaning in so much that we’re plain tuckered out. Then Stephen O’Donnell said “Lean In” is the female version of “Man Up”, which I very much agree with. (WaPo)

DO WOMEN MATTER TO YOUR WORKFORCE?

Shannon Smedstead turned a bunch of us on to this site InHerSite, which is best described as a “glassdoor-esque site with a focus on women and men who care about women in the workforce”. It’s currently free to create a profile and rate your workforce! Check it out (and support it because it’s an awesome idea!) (InHerSite)

Buying Gifts for Clients?

Then go to top-rated sites like GiftTree or HappyWorker and in the words of a group of women who get and GIVE a lot of gifts… “Don’t send me one more thing with your logo on it, unless it’s something to eat or drink!” Okay 🙂 (My FB)
