4 New Facebook Features You Should Know How to Use

Despite what many have to say lately about Facebook and its relevancy, it is still the leading social media outlet with by far the most users. Facebook was the first to surpass 1 billion users, and still has the most at 1.23 billion monthly active users, 945 million mobile users, and 757 million daily users. As a company, you want to go where the people are and with these numbers it is evident that the people are on Facebook.

There are over 15 million brands and companies that use Facebook to expand their audience reach, are you one of them? If not, you should be. If you are, here are 4 new features that could help you now reach even more people.

The Carousel Ad

The traditional advertisement on Facebook includes an image, a headline, post text, a description and a display URL. With the new rotating ad feature, you can now display several products or services within one ad. Each picture is still allowed to have its own title and landing page which makes it easy to feature different pages from your site in one ad. This is a great way to show people all the different benefits you have to offer, whether that be actual products or benefits of services you offer. You could even show the different benefits consumers would advantage from by just using your company or brand. This type of ad can only be set up by using Facebook’s API or Power Editor. Be sure to keep your headlines to an appropriate length in order for them to fit on the screen, 25 to 30 characters is ideal. The images are preset to 600 x 600 pixels, so be careful when selecting photos, as wide images would not display well.

Feature a Video

Facebook recently reported that the site has over 3 billion video views per day. Facebook’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, says that the biggest trend in the years to come will be video content on Facebook. So of course, as the trend starts to arise, the businesses of Facebook want to get in on the action as well. Facebook now has the option to add a featured video to company and brand pages. It starts to play when people visit the video tab of the page. This is a great way to actually show people what your brand and company is all about and give them a sense of why they should explore what you have to offer more. Facebook makes this easy by prompting you when you go to the videos section with an “Add Featured Video” button.

Video Playlists

In the theme of pushing for the new trend of videos, Facebook has also added the ability to make a video playlist. When people like what they see on your featured video, they can then click on your playlists to see more content and learn about your company. Making videos that are clear and to the point will help consumers and potential consumers know exactly what your company is about and what you have to offer to them. With the playlists, it makes it easy to have a series of videos that showcase a particular feature, benefit, or upcoming event. By going to the videos tab, you can select “Create Playlist” and then you are able to drag and place your videos in the order you prefer.

Advanced Remarketing Customization

The ability to target your ads to a specific audience on Facebook has been around for a while, as well as the ability to remarket to different audiences. Now, Facebook has rolled out the ability to customize your remarketing efforts. Remarketing is a very beneficial practice for companies and can increase ROI. Facebook makes your remarketing efforts easy by having two preset options, “people visiting specific web pages but not others” and “people who haven’t visited in a certain amount of time.” With these two different categories, it will allow you to include information in your advertisements targeting toward each audience that they may benefit from depending on whether or not they have visited your site and which pages they have seen.

Have you tried any of these new features yet? If so, what is your favorite or least favorite part about them?
